Plaza Juarez is the cultural and social center of the Southern Sonora city of Huatabampo.

The plaza has a traditional bandstand-style kiosk at its center, with abundant shade trees and flowering plants. There is a snack bar at one end, lots of benches to sit and relax on, and a sitting area with picnic tables and a statue of children playing at its center.

In short, it is a very comfortable place to sit, relax and enjoy a conversation.

One one side of the plaza is the historic Palacio Municipal (city administration building), with its beautiful traditional design and interior murals. Across the street is the Iglesia Cristo Rey, a lovely church that is the religious center of the town. On the other side of the plaza is CafeTal, a very nice coffee shop and breakfast restaurant.

El comedor de Kiasi Jibua prepara comidas tradicionales de Mayo y productos horneados en El Júpare, Sonora.

Pare para degustar delicias culinarias únicas cocinadas sobre un fuego de leña, como estofado wakabaki, pan y tortillas hechas de maíz, trigo, garbanzo y harina. La cocina también sirve una deliciosa taza de café.

Y además de la comida y el café, se puede disfrutar del ambiente cultural de este lugar.

Las cocinas están hechas de una técnica local de construcción que utiliza juncos gigantes entrelazados, con macetas en ramas de árboles tradicionales a cada lado. También hay tallas de madera únicas de las máscaras tradicionales de Mayo talladas en un árbol en un lado del comedor.

Kiasi Jibua es también el sitio de una tienda que vende únicas y bellas obras de arte y artesanía de los artesanos locales de Mayo.

The Kiasi Jibua comedor prepares traditional ethnic Mayo meals and baked goods in El Júpare, Sonora.

Stop by to taste unique culinary treats cooked over a wood fire, like wakabaki stew, bread, and tortillas made from corn, wheat, garbanzo and flour. The kitchen also serves a delicious cup of coffee.

And in addition to the food and coffee, you can enjoy the cultural ambiance of the place.

The kitchens are made from a local construction technique that uses interwoven giant reeds, with pots in traditional tree branch stands on either side. There are also unique wood carvings of traditional Mayo masks carved into a tree on one side of the dining area.

Kiasi Jibua is also the site of a store that sells unique, beautiful works of art and crafts by local Mayo artisans.

We recommend that you visit the kitchens and store when you visit El Jupare, it is located on the side of the road as you enter the town on highway 178 from Huatabampo.
