Sonora tourism sees a strong rebound with a 50 million peso economic boost and increased beach occupancy

According to Sonora newspaper El Imparcial, tourism activity in Sonora surged during the 2025 Mexican Revolution holiday weekend, generating an estimated 50 million pesos in economic impact and a 10% increase in visitor traffic compared to last year, according to Julio Rascón, president of the Association of Tour Operators, Guides, and Hosts.

Rascón explained that the long weekend coincided with a payday cycle, along with early holiday bonuses and personal savings for many workers, which helped drive stronger local travel throughout the state.

Tourism providers described the weekend as a promising sign of continued recovery and growth for the Sonoran tourism sector heading into the holiday season.
