Enjoy images of the pueblo of Trincheras, Sonora, Mexico. The town’s name, which literally means “trenches,” refers to the archaeological site located adjacent to the town, an ancient hill with rock terraces. The hill of Trincheras, sometimes referred to as “The Pyramid of Sonora, is rich with archaeological remnants from the Sonora’s pre-Hispanic past. It also has a nice plaza where you can relax, and the Iglesia de San Rafael church is also a nice place to visit.

The town is located at the end of a 20-mile dirt road that connects with Mexico highway 2, about mid-way between Santa Ana and Caborca.
