Aboard a Mexican bus in Sonora

Take the Bus or the Shuttle

There are bus lines that operate in Arizona with regular routes to Nogales and Yuma, and some of them continue on to destinations south of the border. In addition, there are two Mexican bus lines that provide direct service from Tucson or Phoenix to destinations in Sonora and farther south in Mexico.

There are also shuttle services from Phoenix and Tucson that provide direct van rides to border towns, and others that take passengers directly from Tucson to Hermosillo or Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point.

Buses that continue on a southbound route will stop at the border for a Mexican customs inspection.  This usually involves getting off of the bus with your luggage, and standing by as customs officials examine the contents of your baggage.

Another option is to walk across the border and take a taxi to the “central de camiones” (bus station) in Nogales. There are several Mexican bus lines, like Tufesa, Albatros and TAP, that provide relaxing, comfortable transportation to various Sonoran destinations at an affordable price.
